B.S.N. Residency
The B.S.N. Residency is a year long program designed to assist the BSN graduate in the transition from new graduate to competent bedside nurse.
Continuing Education
UAB Nurses are provided with many CEU offerings. The Alabama Board of Nursing requires that each professional nurse have a minimum of 24 continuing education hours every two years.
Medical Emergency Team
A Medical Emergency Team (MET) provides a rapid response at a moment’s notice to bring expertise and assistance to nurses when their patients experience a sudden change in condition or a life-threatening situation.
New Hire Support Program
The New Hire Support program provides support for Registered Nurses during their first year of employment to ensure a smooth transition into the workforce.
Nursing Orientation
The Nursing Orientation program provides the newly hired Registered Nurse with a comprehensive, sequential, orientation process.
Return to Work Program
The Return-to-Work Nursing Program consists of a 5-week classroom setting refresher course designed for individuals considering a return to the workforce.
Teaching Environment
With continued relationships with more than 20 nursing schools, students have the opportunity for multiple clinical experiences and senior practicum rotations.
Teamwork
Teamwork is an integral part of daily patient care activities and the Registered Nurse is a vital member of the team. The teaching environment fosters learning and active participation in the process
