Purpose, Mission, and Vision 
The UAB Center for Nursing Excellence (CNE) has a unique purpose, mission, and vision to guide innovative nursing practice at UAB and other health services systems throughout our state, region and beyond.
 
Objectives 
The UAB CNE has eight main objectives to support and promote nursing services at UAB Hospital and throughout our state, region and beyond.

Values 
Our values – Caring, Ownership, Integrity, Collaboration and Innovation - are an integral part in making our Center for Nursing Excellence truly excellent. 
 
Formal Infrastructure 
The UAB CNE provides a formal infrastructure for several initiatives and activities aimed at promoting excellence in nursing. These initiatives and activities include Nursing Research, Evidence-Based Nursing Practice, ANCC Magnet Certification, New Hire Support, Transition into Professional Nursing Practice and Ongoing Education and Professional Development for Nurses at all levels of the organization. 
 
Nursing Practice Congress  
The Nursing Practice Congress is a dynamic professional process that promotes collaboration, shared decision making, ownership and accountability of UAB Nursing Practice. The Congress consists of 35 voting members including staff nurses, nurse educators, managers and directors and clinical specialists.
